I've recently traded in my 5 string Curbow for a 4 string Squier CV Jazz. I'm loving the feel of the neck, and finding my way with the sound, but I do really miss have Eb and D on the B string (funnily enough, I'm doing just fine without low B and C). I've been drop-tuning for the songs where I need it, but I've had my eye on a Hipshort X-tender. Has anyone sourced one locally? Who keeps them in stock, and what do they cost?

I don't think Hipshot have any local representation at all. You'll have to buy from the US.

I didn't bother, was going to play for a few months and see how badly I needed it. I had no luck finding a local supplier, the cheapest international source was on eBay.

Necropost!

Just finished fitting a BT7 Xtender on my Squier Jazz. I got it on Enay and ended up paying about R900 including VAT. Haven't gigged it yet but after a bit of fiddling it seems to be pretty stable-flips really easily between D and E. I can get it down to C# but C natural doesn't quite make it.
